Abstract

Formaldehyde is a cornmonly used substance in gross anatomy and histology laboratories, in Morphology, most of the time the solutions are prepared without considering the standardized norms and basic principIes in health and education such as the volumetric preparation. There are no introductory conferences to the anatomy course to show how to react quickly when an injury due to formalin inmpregnation occurs. This article based on references of general literature and the experience of the authors, attempts to instruct about the applications of formaldehyde in daily life and its specific areas, specially in the morphologic sciences of the basic sciences included in the different programs in the health area, because the study of the human body in its structure and function is a necessary element to the professional formation.
