Abstract
This text analyzes the thought of Leo Löwenthal, a member of the so-called “first generation” of the Frankfurt School, in light of several of his theoretical contributions to the field of critical social theory. To this end, it presents several of his ideas in relation to other thinkers associated with the same intellectual circle. Several of his postulates can be seen reflected in his intellectual dialogues with figures such as Theodor Adorno, Walter Benjamin, and Max Horkheimer. The aim of this work, then, is to make explicit the importance of Löwenthal's influence on the development of critical social theory.
