Abstract

There is a group of white mice in the Laboratory Animal Facility or Bioterium, the place for life, as the etymology of this word states. They are there as animal models to study the possibility to find new molecules with anti-carcinogenic activity that assist in the treatment of colon cancer, the third type that appears the most in men and women in Colombia. Mice with which it is intended to contribute to the development of new medications that finally impact in a decrease of the recurrence and mortality rates, this is, these animals will contribute to life.

But of course, the mice are not alone. The researchers of Corporación para Investigaciones Biológicas – CIB (Corporation for Biological Research) and UPB are the ones in charge of these animals They, from the Medical and Experimental Mycology research group proposed the project: Preclinical evaluation in mice of nanobioconjugates against colon-rectal cancer, to search for new natural composites with therapeutic activity (pharmacological agents) that assist in the treatment of this disease, since it is not always available on time and does not become effective due to the rapid advancement of the condition.
