Descriptive and analytical considerations in regards to progress and development: A first academic approach

Abstract

The following article is a brief reflection on the themes of progress and development. It aims to offer a daring approach on the use of these “words” that are quite often misused in the wrong context and with the wrong meaning, not understanding what they mean or want to reveal. The purpose is not to deal with epistemological issues or delve into historical details but offer a first approach to them, considering them in different ways and with different meanings not only as ideas, even if they are linked to issues of ideology or common, everyday words, beliefs, myths and so on. Progress and development, are two quite controversial, attractive, exciting, motivating “words” used a lot which are also subject to the power and interests of instrumentalization.
