Psychosocial interpretation of the notion of community

Abstract

This article aims to enrich the analysis on the concept of community from the psychosocial perspective, which might have a double nature; it might be both a concept as well as an object of intervention and research. Being the first of outmost importance for this analysis, and it becomes valuable when is recognized as the psychosocial discourse proposes it, in which the frontiers of knowledge increasingly expand and become more diffuse.



The article presents theoretical references from different social disciplines, with special emphasis on the three faces of social psychology: symbolic interactionism, social constructionism and Community Psychology.
