Abstract

This review examines the book La política cuestionada. Hans-Georg Gadamer y el arte de la pregunta (2024), by Francisco Díez Fischer, in which the author proposes recovering Gadamerian hermeneutics as a tool for thinking about the formation of political community. The book argues that the conditions of possibility of the political can be understood through dialogical practices such as listening and questioning, whose exemplary structure is found in the relationship of friendship. From this perspective, dialogue is not oriented toward the homogenization of interlocutors, but toward the possibility of constructing a shared sense among participants who remain different. The review reconstructs the central thesis of the work, its argumentative structure, and the theoretical assumptions on which it is based. It also situates the proposal within contemporary debates on recognition and the digitalization of communication. Finally, it evaluates the scope of the proposal and raises the question of the mediations necessary to ensure that the impact of these ideas does not remain limited to the academic sphere.
