Abstract
Neopragmatism has renewed the old query on epistemological relativism from a language horizon. Richard Rorty has developed a thesis that has moved
Academia by making a point out of dissuasion. What role must philosophy play? That of truth or that of solidarity? Universalism or contextualism? Rorty leans towards a return to Socratic dialogue in which all voices are heard under the assumption of responsibility and sympathy. This dialogue searches an ever-renewable agreement which would encompass more ethics and more responsibility —within the frame of human finitude— than truth within historical transcendence.
