The discourse of the master: from Hegel to Lacan

Abstract

This essay pretends to examine what psychoanalysis has called the Discourse of the Master, as unconscious discourse, a departure from the discourse of the master proposed by Hegel which is presented as acknowledgement of desire, as far as the subject is an effect of language, therefore, a desiring subject.
