Abstract
This article is the first chapter of a Criminal Law Syllabus that is being written for students. Therefore, it contains basic concepts for a criminal law course, and furthermore, it sketches the program and future scope of the aforementioned Syllabus. Accordingly, this writing or first chapter approaches the following topics: in the first place, the location of the criminal law in the universe; in the second place, the criminal law and the political and legal context; in the third place, the concept, content and delimitation of the basics of criminal law; and, in the last place, the purpose or teleology of the basics of criminal law.
