Modular housing system: a new UPB patent

Abstract

The “Modular Industrialized System” project obtained an invention patent from the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) -according to its name in Spanish- of Colombia on December the 7th, 2017. This proposal focuses on three principles: 1) industrialize the support structure to guarantee quality, safety and seismic resistance; 2) individualize the designs considering the identity, the cultural traditions of the communities and the climatic conditions of the place, and 3) make possible the transformation of future constructions, according to the changes in each family group.


It is a project of the Architecture Faculty from the UPB, in partnership with the Technical University of Munich, with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)-by its name in German-. It is the result of the doctoral research developed by the Professor Alejandro Restrepo Montoya under the
direction of Professor Florian Musso, of the Lehrstuhl für Baukonstruktion und Baustoffkunde (Research Group in Design, Construction and Materials) in Munich and the participation of the researcher Felipe Bernal Henao, UPB teacher.
