Abstract

The article gives new information regarding “mixed” couples in the city of Medellín. The research strategy used was a study in which three couples participated. It was found that procedures that involve negotiation and adaptation to include aspects of the culture of the partner, without efforts, as they enjoy the teachings that this other culture offers. Besides, it is important to highlight the motivation found in Colombian women to build these types of couples, encountering attributes in foreign men that aren’t encountered in Colombian men. There are, however, two situations of tension between the couples which include, one that has to do with proper dynamic of the couple and the other one with intercultural means.
