Narrative about disarmament, demobilization and reinsertion of the urban militias in Medellín (1993 - 1996)

Abstract

As a result of the documentary research conducted from the press source of El Colombiano, on the demobilization and reintegration of urban militias in Medellin between 1993-1996, the case of the peace process given in Coosercom is presented (Safety Cooperative and Community Service), which after more than 20 years of its disappearance and with clear evidence of its failure, given the continuation of the conflict and the violence perpetrated in the same areas of influence of these agents in the city. Reflective examination on the historical moments like the one reviewed in this case are necessary and on the peace
processes with the urban militias, which can provide significant elements to rethink the history of the conflict and peace in Colombia.
