Abstract

This article intends to share with Social Work professionals in the field and with the ones in their schooling process, some aspects for the approach with families, conceiving it as a stand alone system with change possibilities and, with internal resources that can be rediscovered, recreated and promoted into constructive processes that are woven during help talks.

A work focus with families is described, not centered on the attention to their limitations and shortages, but on their resources and abilities to confront, handle and change interactions that produce, maintain and perpetuate tensions and suffering. Help process stages are retaken, some of the demands that families express when they join a process are stated, and some examples from professional practice are included.
