Abstract

Historically, the Colombian Amazonia has been the target of international economical interests; different parts have converged here: from the State to the armed groups, settlers, businessmen, and indigenous communities, who have developed a series of social dynamics characterized by economic relations.

From the end of the Nineteenth Century until today, two economical cycles of great importance have happened in the context of the extractive economy: rubber and cocaine. These two cycles have been the reason for conflict and have caused the region to be seen as a mere conflicted and unknown border by the rest of the Colombian society.
