Abstract

The following paper reviews the main events the Indigenous Movement, represented by the ZNLE, in Chiapas State in Mexico has gone through, as well as its strength 12 years after the first public appearance of Commander Marcos. The paper points out the role of Mexican governments in the conflict, the seizures in the political system, the negotiation processes with this group and the consequences of globalization.
