Abstract

This article shows some of the findings described in the study that was done with fifth to eleventh grades school children and adolescents who study in Catholic schools of Medellin; to estimate the relationship between the parents’ marital separation event and some indicators of the children’s mental health.



After briefly presenting some of the causes regarding the marital separation and its impact on children, we present the data that relates the type of family with the findings about the family dynamics and some mental health indicators that were explained through the use of scales validated in our society. This study is in line with the Pontificia Bolivariana University Family Research Groups and the CES Mental Health Research groups.
