Exclusión y diversidad funcional. Una propuesta de intervención social basada en el modelo de vida independiente

Abstract

Prisoners of the body, is the title of the current book in which the author attempts to express his views on the interpretation of the conditions of the population with different physical or mental disabilities, that have been traditionally considered handicapped, or impaired. The text suggests a social recognition and a new approach, taking into consideration social parameters that will allow the inclusion of people with disabilities into a society that has always excluded them. The theoretical arguments and the personal experiences from a group of people residing in Spain are opening new paths in helping to understand the differences proposed here.
