Abstract

Speaking of homosexual couples and a possible pastoral accompaniment of the Church is the demonstration of the mission and concern of the Catholic Church whose origins make it fulfill its evangelization mission. Addressing this issue involves performing a look at the guidelines that the Church itself has outlined and contrast them with the new realities and lifestyles of the societies of today, as well as with the way in which the Church re-reads the signs of the times and can, as a mother and teacher, enlighten, advise and accompany their children in the development of their spirituality.

For same-sex couples, “It is a great joy that the Church gets closer to their lives and their stories”. This was affirmed by some homosexual couples who participated in the focus groups of the research, which is referenced in this article. For the Church, it is a great challenge to review its postures, pronouncements and words, and it is an opportunity to find a wise starting route that will surely help to obtain a favorable result. For some, it may be something outrageous and illogical; for others, a great step in this third millennium of the new evangelization that wants to carry the Good News of the Gospel with new passion, new methods and new expressions, as so many times was repeated by the late Pope John Paul II.
