One-for-the-other or the ethical overcoming of Ontology
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper explores the concept of Substitution, which is found in the works of the philosopher Emmanuel Levinas. The aim is to exhibit how the overcoming
of Ontology in favor of Ethics that is done by Levinas could be understood through this concept. To achieve this, we will begin by providing some clarifications previous to the development of the problem. The concept of substitution will be, then, exhibited. We will continue with a discussion around the role that the subject plays in the relation forother. Finally, we will consider if an actual overcoming of the Ontology in favor of the Ethics occurs, especially, in regard to the concept of substitution.
