Abstract

The figure of the father at the present time is passing for a moment of absence and confusion difficult. The consequences for the family are serious and devastating; therefore he is urgent its recovery and restoration. The personalist philosophy allows us to go to the deep sense of which it means to be father and his implications for the person. Father means to be in the origin. Father is synonymous of origin, on which he depends and to which we must our existence. The relation `Father- Son’ is, then, symbol of general human condition and gives testimony of which the freedom of the man is a conditional freedom, finite. Only the arrogant utopia of an absolute freedom and a inhuman despotism can eliminate the father. But the relation `father-son’ not only cannot be eliminated in the man, but that not even is possible to replace it with another type of relation, is necessary to admit that `father’ is an original word of the history of the humanity and the religions, a word that cannot be replaced by any other concept, nor translated by means of another concept.
