Abstract

This document intends to contribute to the debate regarding the relationship between Social Work and Public Policies from the presentation of ideas grouped into three moments that serve as an analytical exercise for this purpose: firstly, a relevant historical account is presented to situate the context of public policies and the ideological functioning within the State; then, the concept of Public Policies is exposed and the place of Social Work in them is stated; and finally, professional and disciplinary scenarios are proposed that guide the materialization of this link. The main purpose is to contribute to the foundation from Social Work from a set of approaches and reflections that can be useful in the debate facing the response to social problems by the State and the place of the profession in it.
