Resumo

A doença cardiovascular é a principal causa de morbimortalidade no mundo. O desenvolvimento da mesma se origina na presença de múltiplos fatores de risco aos que se vê exposta a população atualmente. A prevenção da sua aparição se baseia em grande medida na identificação e controle destes fatores de risco. Desta maneira se busca impactar no curso clínico ou na história natural da doença de acordo com que se há apresentado ou não num indivíduo específico. Os modelos de risco cardiovascular são uma das aproximações utilizadas para avaliar este prognóstico deste tipo de problemas de saúde. Neles se combinam matematicamente múltiplas pontuações de risco para o desenvolvimento da doença cardiovascular. Estes marcadores variam no seu valor de estimação de uma escala a outra, e tudo depende da população na que haja sido criada, é por isso mesmo que para a aplicação de uma escala numa população diferente à da sua criação se deve validar externamente, já que isto preveem sobre-estimações ou subestimações do risco cardiovascular.
