Abstract

The oscillation frequencies present in the electromyographic Biofeedback recordings were evaluated in 16 hemiplegic patients. Each patient underwent an evaluation or treatment session in one of the conditions of rest, slow passive stretch, fast passive stretch, or active movement, with the activity of different muscle groups being recorded. The Biofeedback instrument used obtained an average of 4 samples every second and the records were subjected to a Fourier frequency analysis to obtain the spectral density functions, on which a hierarchical cluster analysis was applied, obtaining two groups. In one group 14 patients were included, observing a predominance of the frequency of 0.0125 Hz, in another group 2 patients were included, with a predominance of the frequency of 0.06667 Hz, no differences were found between the evaluation sessions and treatment in terms of predominant frequencies. The results suggest the existence of common oscillations in the electromyographic Biofeedback recordings obtained under very different conditions, which indicates the possibility of new intervention methodologies directed towards these general aspects of the signal.
