Abstract

The passage from Medieval times to modernity is not only a chronological matter. You can trace it in five ruptures concerning the comprehension of the individual. These have been crucial moments in history, in the history of thought, which gives birth to the frightening «individualism» ruling now over our society, our so called postmodern society. It seems that in this context the Christian faithful are somehow left behind the new propositions drawn recently for the future of the individual. Once you know the fuundamental question you are lead to draw answers to the new problems emerging from this global environnement where the human subject is asserted. It even helps us to find the way to assert ours and draws the guidelines to express our witness as believers. Finally, this article takes us near the Word of God so that we may drink from it, from the clear source that enable us to see the future more clearly.
